Water. Our bodies are made of over 50% of it and it influences 100% of the processes in our bodies! So it makes sense that we feel better when we drink it, right? Here are a few reasons why you should go hydrate RIGHT NOW!!
Trying to lose weight?
Try to replace calorie and sugar filled beverages with water, and drink a glass before meals to help you feel fuller. Drinking more water helps amp up metabolism - especially if your glass is icy cold. Your body must work to warm the water up, burning a few extra calories in the process, and who wouldn’t want that?!
Dehydration makes you feel tired. The right amount of water will help your heart pump your blood more effectively AND it can help your blood transport oxygen and other essential nutrients to your cells.
About 70% to 80% of your brain tissue is water. If you're feeling thirsty then you’re dehydrated, your body and your mind are stressed. To keep stress levels down, keep a glass of water at your desk or carry a sports bottle and sip regularly.
Water is nature's own beauty cream. Fine lines and wrinkles are deeper when you're dehydrated. Drinking water hydrates skin cells and plumps them up, making your face look younger. It also flushes out impurities and improves circulation and blood flow, helping your skin glow!
Along with fiber, water is important for good digestion. Water helps dissolve waste particles and passes them smoothly through your digestive tract. If you're dehydrated, your body absorbs all the water, leaving your colon dry and making it more difficult to pass waste. YUCK!
A few fun reasons...
Fizzy water is a staple in healthier versions of your favorite boozy beverage. Using soda water and fresh fruit instead of sugary mixers will help make a better for you drink and will also help with dehydration! Also drinking one glass of water between drinks will help to prevent hangovers!
Taking a bath (my favorite way is with epsom salts!) helps with muscle fatigue and stress. I love taking a bath after a long day or a workout!
The sound of water is said to be relaxing. If you live in the city, you are always exposed to unpleasant noises which can raise stress levels and your blood pressure. Try to balance that out! Every time I’m at the beach I find myself falling asleep at the sounds of the waves. It’s time to run out and get one of those cd’s with the sounds of the ocean and a piano to fall asleep!
